Monday, March 30, 2009 Totally-Out-of-It-And-doesn't-really-feel-like-blogging Monday

Here's a bloggy question thingy from A Little Stranger. These are the rules: Answer these same questions on your own blog. Replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention. Add one more question of your own. If you post this on your blog leave a note here so I can read yours.

What is your current obsession?
The computer, but that's always my obsession.

Which item from your closet are you wearing most lately?
My really bright red super-expensive hoodie that I love and that is really old and still really nice. It's warm and I can just put it on and I don't need a jacket to go outside.

What's for dinner?
I'm not really sure. Probably eggs.

What was the last thing you bought?
Hershey's Eggies from the local grocery. I had to search through 3 different aisles to find the dratted things.

What are you listening to right now?
New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. Now don't get all anti-Twilight on me >:3 I listen to it when I'm falling asleep.

Say something to the person who tagged you:
I assume that's Holly, right? Well then, hello >< Am I done now?

What did you say to the last person you talked to?
"Go AWAY, MOXIE!" to my dog.

What are you reading right now?
Some book. I can't remember which, so it must not be very interesting.

What is your current guilty pleasure?
Chocolate ice cream sticks.

What will be the first spring thing you do?
Probably to stop Moxie from eating the little flowerbuds. Omnomnomnom tasty.

Who did you last speak to?
Goshlums this is repetitive, isn't it? Moxie, my dog. Although she doesn't exactly talk back so I suppose it probably doesn't count.

If you could grow any plant(s) in the world in your house or yard, what would it be?
Coral.

What was the last thing you made?
A little book full of photos for a friend.

What do you collect?
Postcards from galleries and other places like that.

What are you most looking forward to about summer?
The sleeping in.

Sunday, March 29, 2009 Stuffie Sunday: A Pento-Bear!

This took me about three hours total to make. The face, as you can see in the close-up, is hard and is made out of clay. I first formed an aluminium foil base and then stuck a whole lot of clay and animal eyes on the top. Loads and loads of clay was stuck on to make the cheeks and muzzle so I hope the joins aren't too pronounced. This PentoBear has brown 9mm animal eyes and I used a mix of 3 different browns to make the face.

The head was made out of old fun fur (normally I would use it as a wig for dolls) that I made into a ball, and then I hot melted the face on. I like the fur because the pink, blue, and yellow bits came ready on there so I didn't have to dye them or anything. The 5 limbs are made out of nice shiny black fun fur (it shed like crazy all over the place and I had to vacuum.) The pictures don't really do the PentoBear justice.

In the bottom two pictures, the PentoBear is wearing her/his/its rain hat, which is just a faux flower. All in all, I think it's a rather cute stuffie >< Once I get the pattern right I might want to sell them. This particular one likes to sit right in front of the computer and keep me company. So far it hasn't been evicted by Mum so I see that as a good sign. It hasn't got a name or a gender or a profile, I'll figure all that out once I've had time to carry it places.

Saturday, March 28, 2009 Sketchy Saturday: SquidBearThingy

This is Pavlova, the SquidBearThingy. I know, they need a better species name, but it was just a quick rattle-off sketch. Pavlova was done in Photoshop Elements, with a wacom tablet and a hard and a soft brush.

She enjoys swimming around in the sea and eating Jello-fish (cherry flavour) and sleeping. Also, she likes terrorizing poor little toddlers learning to swim by licking their feet and making them squirm. Scientists discovered her after numerous reports that she was marching onto the shore and demanding passers-by to take her to their leader.

Anyway. Happy Saturday everyone!
